The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) released the final version of CalEnviroScreen 5.0 on July 1, 2026 (Press Release). On September 18, 2026, CalEPA released the Final 2026 Disadvantaged Communities Designation, directly informed by CalEnviroScreen 5.0 results.
CalEnviroScreen 5.0 uses the latest census geography and most recent data, applies refined methodologies, and incorporates feedback from community-based organizations. It also adds two new indicators: Diabetes Prevalence and Small Air Toxic Sites.
