Public Engagement

Community input helped shape CalEnviroScreen 5.0. It began with a co-design partnership between OEHHA and community-based organizations, continued through public comment and statewide workshops, and is reflected in the changes we made to the final tool.

OEHHA released the draft update on January 28, 2026, and opened a public comment period through April 1, 2026. We received more than 100 public comments on the update through written comments and feedback at seven statewide and regional workshops. The resources below document what we heard, the changes we made in response, and how we will move forward.
