Effective October 26, 2018, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is adding Nickel (soluble compounds) to the list of chemicals known to the state to cause reproduct

OEHHA is requesting comments on the modifications to the regulatory text.  In order to be considered, OEHHA must receive comments by 5:00 p.m. on November 7, 2018, the designated close of the comment period.  All comments will be posted on the OEHHA website at the close of the public comment period.

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment announces the availability of a tentative agenda for the Carcinogen Identification Committee meeting to be held on November 1.

OEHHA is extending the public comment period on this proposed amendment to 5:00 pm, Monday, November 26, 2018 and has scheduled a public hearing on Monday, November 19, 2018.

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) intends to list bevacizumab as known to the state to cause reproductive toxicity (developmental and female endpoints) under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 198.

This proposed regulatory action would amend subsection (a) to clarify that where a business presents evidence for the “level in question” of a chemical listed as causing reproductive toxicity in a food product based on the average of multiple samples of that food, the level in question may not be calculated by averaging the concentration of the chemical in food products from different manufacturers or producers, or that were manufactured in different facilities from the product at issue.

Proposal to adopt Proposition 65 Maximum Allowable Dose Levels (MADLs) for n-hexane. The proposed oral MADL for n-hexane is 28,000 micrograms per day and the proposed inhalation MADL for n-hexane is 20,000 micrograms per day.

This SUD request is limited to exposures to styrene from Fiber Care Baths, Inc. bathware products manufactured utilizing 1st and 2nd laminations systems and application of the LV-9800 acrylated gel-coat.  Exposure to other listed substances, if any, which may be present in these materials will not be reviewed by OEHHA in the context of this request.

N-Nitrosohexamethyleneimine and gentian violet will be considered for possible listing by the CIC at a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 1, 2018.  The meeting will be held in the Sierra Hearing Room at the CalEPA Headquarters building, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California.  The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will last until all business is conducted or until 5:00 p.m.  The agenda for the meeting will be provided in a future public notice published in advance of the meeting.

Interpretive Guideline No. 2018-01, Residential Exposure to Methyleugenol

This provides guidance for businesses and the public by establishing default natural background levels for inorganic arsenic in white and brown rice.  These default background levels can assist businesses in determining the applicability of the warning requirements of Proposition 65.

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) intends to modify the listing of alcoholic beverages as shown in the table below as known to the state to cause cancer under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65).  This action is being taken pursuant to the “Labor Code” listing mechanism.

Nickel and nickel compounds will be considered for possible listing by the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee. The meeting will be held in the Sierra Hearing Room at the CalEPA Headquarters building, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California.  The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and will last until all business is conducted or until 5:00 p.m.

This regulation establishes a MADL of 290 micrograms per day for metham sodium.  

The proposed regulation would state that drinking coffee does not pose a significant cancer risk, despite the presence of chemicals created during the roasting and brewing process that are listed under Proposition 65 as known carcinogens.

A public hearing will be held on August 16, 2018, at which time any person may make comments orally or in writing on the proposed action described in this notice. 

The comment period will be extended to on this proposed amendment has been extended to 5:00 pm, Thursday, July 5, 2018.

The listing of TRIM® VX is based on formal identification by the National Toxicology Program (NTP), an authoritative body, that the chemical causes cancer.  The criteria used by OEHHA for the listing of chemicals under the “authoritative bodies” mechanism can be found in Title 27, Cal. Code of Regs., section 25306.

Information about the Proposition 65 carcinogen acrylamide

The regulation will be effective on July 1, 2018.  This regulation establishes a No Significant Risk Level of 0.88 micrograms per day for vinylidene chloride for purposes of Proposition 65.
