Announcement of the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee Meeting Scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025
OEHHA will convene a meeting of the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee (DARTIC). At this meeting the DARTIC will consider the possible listing of bisphenol S (BPS) based on developmental toxicity. OEHHA is also opening a 45-day public comment period on the hazard identification document entitled “Evidence on the Developmental Toxicity of Bisphenol S."

Announcement of the Carcinogen Identification Committee Meeting November 18, 2025
OEHHA will convene a meeting of the Carcinogen Identification Committee for possible listing of N-Methyl-N-Formylhydrazine on November 29, 2024. OEHHA is also opening a 45-day public comment period on the hazard identification document for this chemical.

Overview of the February 2024 Meeting of the Carcinogen Identification Committee
The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment convened a meeting of the CIC on February 27th, 2024. The meeting opened with a session on enzyme polymorphisms and susceptibility to carcinogenicity, including presentations from invited speakers and discussions with the Committee. The presentations and discussion will help inform future cancer hazard identification work at OEHHA. The Committee also discussed OEHHA’s proposal to streamline several sections of cancer hazard identification documents.

Indicators of Climate Change Symposium: Bridging Science and Action
On January 24, 2024, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) convened a symposium as part of its efforts to track and report on climate change and its impacts on California.

Hexavalent Chromium in Drinking Water
The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is announcing the availability of a draft document describing a proposed health-protective concentration (HPC) for noncancer effects of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) in drinking water, as part of the update to the Cr(VI) Public Health Goal (PHG). OEHHA will hold a hybrid workshop on January 8, 2024, the public workshop agenda is now available.

Bisphenol S (BPS) Added to Proposition 65 List Following 2023 Meeting of the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee
Effective December 29, 2023, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has added bisphenol S (BPS) to the Proposition 65 list as a reproductive toxicant (female reproductive endpoint).

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment is announcing the webcast option for the Northern California Public Workshop on releasing a draft document for public review that summarizes the carcinogenicity data and derives an updated cancer inhalation unit risk factor for ethylene oxide. At the request of the American Chemistry Council, OEHHA hereby extends the public comment period. The public comment period will now close on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

2023 Symposium on Heat: Impacts on Children and Pregnancy
Please join OEHHA and the Children’s Environmental Health Center for a virtual symposium series exploring the effects of heat on children and during pregnancy. This highly interactive four-session symposium will cover physiologic considerations for children and pregnancy, strategies to combat health effects in children and during pregnancy, and important considerations for these populations in the development of heat health warning systems.
