Extension of Request for Information on the Neurologic and Neurobehavioral Impacts of Synthetic Food Dyes

On October 22, 2018, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) published a notice requesting information relating to possible exposures and neurologic and neurobehavioral impacts of synthetic food dyes. At the request of the California Legislature, OEHHA is conducting a risk assessment of the potential impacts of synthetic food dyes on children, particularly for neurobehavioral and other neurologic effects. In conducting this risk assessment, OEHHA plans to evaluate the toxicology, epidemiology, clinical, and exposure literature and databases.

The publication of the notice initiated a 60-day data call-in period, which was originally scheduled to close on December 21, 2018. However, OEHHA has received a request from the International Association of Color Manufacturers for a 60-day extension on the data call-in to allow enough time to collect and provide data and information that are responsive to OEHHA’s  request.

OEHHA hereby extends the data call-in period on this risk assessment to 5:00 pm, Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

You may submit studies or other relevant information to OEHHA electronically (preferred) at: http://www.oehha.ca.gov/comments or via mail to:
