Public Comments on Second Draft Public Health Goal for Hexavalent Chromium in Drinking Water

Comments received on OEHHA’s December 2010 draft public health goal (PHG) document for hexavalent chromium appear below. The public comment period on this draft document closed on February 15, 2011. OEHHA’s intent at this time is to review the comments, make any appropriate revisions and finalize the PHG.

OEHHA released its initial public-review draft of the hexavalent chromium PHG in August 2009. OEHHA conducted a public workshop and held a public-comment period on that draft in Autumn 2009. The University of California oversaw an external scientific peer review of the August 2009 draft that had been requested by two members of the public. The peer reviewers’ comments were posted on OEHHA’s web site in September 2010. When the PHG is finalized, OEHHA will post the final document on its web site along with its responses to major comments received during the public comment periods and the peer review.
