Carcinogen Identification Meeting Postponed and OEHHA has decided not to reschedule the meeting until after the COVID-19 emergency has passed.

At the request of the American Coatings Association, OEHHA hereby extends the public comment period.  The comment period will now close on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.

This notice will also open a comment period that is designated to close on December 2, 2019. A public hearing on this proposed regulatory amendment will be scheduled on request.

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment is providing notice of changes to the proposed regulatory action to amend Section 25600.2 of Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations.  Section 25600.2 addresses the responsibility to provide consumer product exposure warnings for chemicals listed under Proposition 65.

Acetaminophen will be considered for possible listing by the Committee at a public meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 5, 2019. The meeting will be held in the Sierra Hearing Room at the CalEPA Headquarters building, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California.

OEHHA intends to list the following chemicals as known to the state to cause cancer under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65).  This action is being proposed pursuant to the “Labor Code” listing mechanism.  OEHHA has determined that 2-Amino-4-chlorophenol, 2-Chloronitrobenzene, 1,4-Dichloro-2-nitrobenzene, 2,4-Dichloro-1-nitrobenzene, N,N-Dimethylacetamide, and para-Nitroanisole meet the criteria for listing as known to cause cancer by this mechanism. OEHHA is providing an opportunity to comment, and comments must be received by Monday, August 12, 2019 to be considered. Additional information can be found in the listing notice.

OEHHA is requesting comments on the modifications to the regulatory text.  In order to be considered, OEHHA must receive comments by August 5, 2019, which is the designated close of the comment period.  All comments will be posted on the OEHHA website at the close of the public comment period.

Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) proposes to establish three Proposition 65[1] Maximum Allowable Dose Levels (MADLs) for exposure to chlorpyrifos by amending Section 25805(b) of Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations.

The Carcinogen Identification Committee of OEHHA’s Science Advisory Board serves as the state’s qualified experts and renders an opinion about whether a chemical has been clearly shown to cause cancer.  The chemicals identified as carcinogens by the CIC are added to the Proposition 65 list. 

OEHHA has selected chemicals for the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee's review for possible listing under Proposition 65 as causing reproductive toxicity (developmental toxicity endpoint).
