Extension of Comment Period - Notice of Intent to List: Parathion, Malathion, Glyphosate

On September 4, 2015, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s (CalEPA) Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) published a notice in the California Regulatory Notice Register (Register 2015, No. 36-Z) announcing its intent to list parathion, malathion and glyphosate as known to the state to cause cancer under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.[1]

The September 4 notice initiated a 30‑day public comment period that was scheduled to close on October 5, 2015.  OEHHA has received a request from the Monsanto Company, the Joint Glyphosate Task Force, and the Agricultural Council of California seeking an extension of the comment period for glyphosate.  The Agricultural Council of California also requested an extension of the comment periods for parathion and malathion. OEHHA hereby extends the public comment period for these three substances until 5 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
