Safe Harbor Warnings for Acrylamide Exposure from Food

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has amended Title 27, California Code of Regulations 25607.2(b), to provide an additional safe harbor warning option for businesses that cause significant exposures to acrylamide from food products.

Final Approval/OAL Action

The Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved the rulemaking on October 4, 2024. The effective date for the regulation is January 1, 2025.

Proposed Rulemaking

On April 5, 2024, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment proposed to amend Article 6 of Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations, section 25607.2. This proposed rulemaking would amend subsection (b) to provide an additional safe harbor warning option, for businesses that cause significant exposures to acrylamide from food products. The public comment period for this proposed rulemaking was open April 5 to May 20, 2024.
