A meeting of the Carcinogen Identification Committee (CIC) was held virtually on June 13, 2023. The first agenda item was a session on the key characteristics of carcinogens and their use in cancer hazard identification. The key characteristics approach has been utilized over the past several years in the cancer hazard identification documents prepared by OEHHA. The CIC meeting included presentations from invited speakers and discussions with the Committee, helping inform future cancer hazard identification work at OEHHA.
The second agenda item was on the analysis of tumor data from animal carcinogenicity studies. Staff presented OEHHA’s approach to the analysis of tumor data from animal carcinogenicity studies, followed by Committee discussion.
Finally, OEHHA staff presented updates on chemical listing via the administrative listing mechanisms, safe harbor levels, and other regulations and litigation from the past year.
No Proposition 65 listing decisions were considered or made at this meeting.
