OEHHA’s Role in DPR’s risk management process

OEHHA participates in DPR’s process for human health risk management by providing advice and recommendations to DPR.

Review of DPR's Risk Management Directive

Pursuant to the Risk Characterization Document, DPR prepares a Risk Management Directive (RMD) and OEHHA provides advice and recommendations to DPR concerning RMDs. The RMDs for pesticides of concern are posted on DPR's website.

Review of DPR's Mitigation Measures

DPR’s mitigation measures are initiated when the Risk Management Directive (RMD) informs the Department of the need of mitigation measures for certain exposure scenarios. DPR develops mitigation measures designed to minimize pesticides exposure in order to protect human health.  OEHHA provides comments and recommendations on these measures.
