Addition of α-methyl styrene (CAS No. 98-83-9) to the list of chemicals known to the state to cause reproductive toxicity for purposes of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.

The PHG for hexavalent chromium is established at 0.02 parts per billion (ppb). The health-protective level is based on avoidance of potential carcinogenic effects.

The PHG for chromium 6 reflects research documenting that young children and other sensitive subpopulations are more susceptible than the general population to health risks from exposure to carcinogens. The final PHG for hexavalent chromium, also known as chromium 6, is set at 0.02 parts per billion (ppb).

This July 2011 notice announces the beginning of a 60-day public comment period on 39 chemicals which will be discussed at the October 2011 meeting of the Proposition 65 Carcinogen Identification Committee (CIC).

A Maximum Allowable Dose Level (MADL) for chromium (hexavalent compounds) was established.  The amendment will become effective July 29, 2011.

The next meeting of the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicicity Identification Committee (DARTIC) is being re-scheduled to Tuesday and Wednesday, July 12 and 13, 2011.

On May 13, 2011, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s (Cal/EPA) Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) published a notice requesting information as to whether hydrogen cyanide and cyanide salts meet the authoritative bodies listing criteria set forth in the Proposition 65 regulations in Title 27, Cal. Code of Regulations, section 25306.
