Occurrence/Use

Dry cleaning agent, fire extinguisher, solvent, degreaser, refrigerant, chlorofluorocarbon feedstock. Use as fumigant banned in US in 1986 except for preservation of museum artifacts. Synthesis, use as CFC feedstock, and agricultural use have ceased in California.
