Hello, I respectfully insist that OEHHA refrain from fully releasing CalEnviroScreen 5.0 until the Alviso area's score has been reassessed. This year, I have begun joining monthly community meetings in Alviso and engaging with the population there. I have witnessed from firsthand accounts as well as historical data that Alviso faces complex and acute environmental and climate challenges including flood risk, poor air quality, and limited access to healthy, affordable food. The current CalEnviroScreen 5.0 score does not reflect the ongoing pollution burdens or high climate vulnerability. Accurately scoring Alviso is vital to ensure the community receives the funding, technical support, and resources it urgently needs to continue building resilience from the ground up.
