As a physician and public health professional I have long been concerned about a 40 year old biomass plant which sits in the middle of a small town, and 3 blocks from an elementary school. In addition to other toxins, it emits around 150 pounds of acrolein each year. OEHHA approval of an IUR will include acrolein's cancer risk in the facility's health risk assessment and could spur improvement or retirement of this very dirty plant. Thanks.
