Kristina (Kris) Thayer, Ph.D., has served since May 2025 as OEHHA’s Director. In this role, she provides scientific and policy leadership for OEHHA.

Prior to her current role, Kris has been the Director of the Chemical and Pollutant Assessment Division (CPAD) and the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) Program at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Kris held several positions at the National Toxicology Program within the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. These included Director of the Office of Health Assessment and Translation and Director of the Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction.

Kris earned her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University, University Park.
