On October 5, 2018, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announced the availability of a Draft Technical Support Document for Proposed Public Health Goals for Trihalomethanes in Drinking Water.

The October 5 notice announced a 55-day public comment period, ending on November 29, 2018, as well as a public workshop to be held on November 29, 2018 at the California Environmental Protection Agency Headquarters Building, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California, 95814, Coastal Hearing Room, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or until business is concluded.  The workshop will be webcast, which can be accessed on the day of the workshop at https://video.calepa.ca.gov, and the agenda is now available.

OEHHA has received a joint-request for an extension of the public comment period from several organizations (the Association of California Water Agencies, the California Water Association, the California Municipal Utilities Association, the Southern California Water Coalition and the American Water Works Association), as well as a request from the American Chemistry Council.  OEHHA hereby extends the submission period for public comments until 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019.

The public is encouraged to submit written comments via OEHHA’s website, rather than in paper form.  Comments may be submitted electronically through the following link: https://oehha.ca.gov/comments, or they can be emailed to PHG.Program@oehha.ca.gov with the chemical name in the subject line.  Information submitted in paper form may be mailed or delivered in person to the address below:
