Green Chemistry Initiative Update Presentation to the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board

On January 17, 2008, OEHHA and the Department of Toxic Substances Control presented a talk entitled “Green Chemistry Initiative Update” to the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board In-House Training on Emerging Contaminants.

The purpose of the Green Chemistry Initiative is to develop a coordinated, comprehensive strategy governed by sound science to:

  • Foster the development of information on the hazards posed by chemicals
  • Reduce exposure to dangerous substances
  • Encourage cleaner and less polluting industrial processes
  • Encourage manufacturers to take greater responsibility for the products they produce
