Public Forum on Chemicals being Considered for Listing by the Authoritative Bodies Mechanism: Hydrogen Cyanide and Cyanide Salts

On May 13, 2011, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s (Cal/EPA) Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) published a notice requesting information as to whether hydrogen cyanide and cyanide salts meet the authoritative bodies listing criteria set forth in the Proposition 65 regulations in Title 27, Cal. Code of Regulations, section 25306.

OEHHA has received a request from the CN (Cyanide) Council for a public forum to present oral comments concerning the potential listing of hydrogen cyanide and cyanide salts.  Therefore, through this notice OEHHA announces that a public forum will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, from 10 am to 12 pm in the Sierra Hearing Room at the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California 95814.  The meeting will be available via webcast.  On the day of the forum, the link to the webcast will be posted on the OEHHA web site.  At the forum, the public may present scientific data and other relevant information on whether hydrogen cyanide and cyanide salts meet the criteria for listing in Section 25306.  In addition, the CN Council requested that the comment period be extended to allow for the submission of complete and relevant scientific information for these chemicals.  OEHHA hereby extends the written public comment period until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, August 3, 2011August 31, 2011.
