On October 27, 2017, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s (Cal/EPA) Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) published a notice in the California Regulatory Notice Register (Register 2017, No. 43-Z) announcing the acceptance of a request for a Safe Use Determination (SUD) for chlorothalonil in certain foods resulting from pesticidal use of the chemical and opportunity for public comment, under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.[1]

The October 27 notice initiated a 30‑day public comment period that was scheduled to close on November 27, 2017.  OEHHA has received a request from California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation seeking an extension of the comment period.  OEHHA hereby extends the public comment period until 5 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2017.
