Correction to the List of Chemicals as Known to the State of California to Cause Cancer or Reproductive Toxicity

On August 26, 1997, C.I. Direct Blue 15 and C.I. Direct Blue 218 were added to the list of chemicals as known to the State of California to cause cancer, with effective listing dates of October 1, 1992 (see August 15, 1997, California Regulatory Notice Register [Register 97, No. 33-Z]). These two dyes were considered to be benzidine-based dyes, chemicals which had been added to the Proposition 65 list on October 1, 1992. Recently, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment received information that indicates that the two dyes are not benzidine-based dyes, but instead are based on benzidine congeners. Therefore, their effective listing dates will be corrected to August 26, 1997. A complete, corrected Proposition 65 list is published elsewhere in this issue of the California Regulatory Notice Register.
