Notice of Amendment of Text Title 27, California Code of Regulations Amendment of Section 25705 Specific Regulatory Levels: No Significant Risk Levels 4-Methylimidazole (4-MEI)
The Office of Administrative Law approved an amendment to Title 27, California Code of Regulations, section 25705 on January 9, 2012. The rulemaking will be effective on February 8, 2012.
The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment proposed this rulemaking action to provide a specific regulatory level that poses no significant risk of cancer for purposes of Proposition 65 for the chemical 4-Methylimidazole (4-MEI). 4-MEI was listed as known to cause cancer under Proposition 65 in January 2011. This rulemaking action adds 4-MEI to the list of chemicals with specific regulatory levels under section 25705 (b)(1).of Title 27, Cal. Code of Regs. No warning is required for exposures to 4-MEI at or below 29 micrograms per day. OEHHA announces the availability of the final regulatory text and the supporting rulemaking documents.
