Public Comment Period and Workshop on the Draft Hot Spots Cancer Inhalation Unit Risk Factor for 1-Bromopropane
On May 7, 2021, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) released a document for public review that summarizes the carcinogenicity and derivation of a cancer inhalation unit risk factor (IUR) for 1-bromopropane (1-BP). Cancer IURs are used to estimate lifetime cancer risks associated with inhalation exposure to a carcinogen.
OEHHA is required to develop guidelines for conducting health risk assessments under the Air Toxics Hot Spots Program (Health and Safety Code Section 44360(b)(2)). In response to this statutory requirement, OEHHA develops IURs for many air pollutants.
The posting of the document commenced a 45-day public review period that will end on June 21, 2021.
A remote public workshop will be held virtually on May 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM. The remote public workshop will be conducted using the Zoom platform. The workshop can be accessed at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86342682486?pwd=akJHRk45enhGU1pURkdWenFaTEtYUT09. The workshop will also be broadcast on the CalEPA Webcast site.
