Peer Review Comments and OEHHA Responses Regarding the Draft Public Health Goal for Hexavalent Chromium in Drinking Water

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) of the California Environmental Protection Agency is announcing the availability of the comments of three University of California peer reviewers, along with our draft responses to those comments, regarding the 2008 pre-release draft of  the proposed Public Health Goal (PHG) for hexavalent chromium in drinking water. The public-review draft of the PHG technical support document posted on OEHHA’s web site on August 20, 2009  includes changes made by OEHHA in response to these peer review comments. OEHHA’s draft Responses to Comments document summarizes the major comments from the three peer reviewers and provides our responses to those comments. A final response to all comments received, including peer review comments, will be published at a later date when the PHG is finalized.

The peer review comments and OEHHA’s draft responses are now available to provide background information relevant to OEHHA’s development of the current draft of the technical support document for this PHG. Interested members of the public may find these materials helpful in preparing comments on the current draft technical support document for this PHG. OEHHA is not soliciting public comments on the peer review comments or OEHHA’s draft responses.

Information concerning the public comment period for the draft technical report document can be found here.
