OEHHA has finalized a fish advisory concerning elevated levels of mercury in fish in Tomales Bay in Marin County. “With the exception of sharks, fish caught in Tomales Bay can be part of a healthy, balanced diet. But the public – and particularly women of childbearing age and children – should monitor and limit their fish consumption to avoid excessive exposure to mercury,” OEHHA Director Dr. Joan Denton said.

OEHHA adopted a unit risk value and slope factor for naphthalene for estimating cancer risks associated with inhalation exposures. These values are to be used in the Air Toxics Hot Spots and Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) programs .
OEHHA adopted a unit risk value of 3.4 x 10-5 (µg/m3)-1 and slope factor of 1.2 x 10-1 (mg/kg-day)-1 for estimating the cancer risk associated with inhalation exposures to naphthalene. These values are based on data for incidence of nasal tumors in male rats after naphthalene exposure.
