This report provides a status regarding the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment's (OEHHA's) implementation of Health and Safety Code (HSC) Section 901(g). The report also serves a means for OEHHA to obtain interested parties' comments on the technical approach taken and on the potential chemical contaminants of concern to be evaluated for purpose of developing health guidance values.

OEHHA announces the availability of the revised draft technical support documents for proposed Public Health Goals for 11 chemicals. These chemicals are: asbestos, barium, beryllium, chlorobenzene, 1,1-dichloroethane, diethylhexyl adipate, ethylene dibromide, hexachlorobenzene, silvex, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, and toxaphene.

If approved the ammendment would identify when OEHHA will consider and issue a safe use determination, when OEHHA would publicly disclose the acceptance of a request and the supporting data or information. OEHHA proposes to continue the process if a completed request is received and accepted by OEHHA before a 60-day notice of violation has been served. The request and supporting data and information is proposed to be considered official information pursuant to Evidence Code Section 1040 and would not be publicly disclosed until the request was accepted as complete.
