This factsheet describes Oregon’s dry well program, known as the Underground Injection Control Program. Dry wells are designed to minimize the damaging effects of stormwater runoff on aquatic ecosystems and to recharge aquifers. Oregon’s program was selected for review because it is among the most well developed in the country. The factsheet explores the recommended design and construction of dry wells, regulations and permitting, stormwater monitoring, and groundwater modeling used to assess the risk of aquifer contamination. This factsheet provides details on these and related topics.
