The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) of the California Environmental Protection Agency is adding three chemicals to the list of chemicals known to the State to cause cancer for purposes of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65). The chemicals are listed effective June 2, 2000 pursuant to an administrative listing mechanism provided under Proposition 65, based upon a formal identification by an authoritative body that the chemical causes cancer.

The Emerging Environmental Challenges Program was established in the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) in fiscal year 1996/97, and charged with developing a capability to anticipate future environmental challenges which may confront programs in the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA).

This was the 2nd wave included with the Air Toxics Hot Spots Program Risk Assessment Guidelines Part III: The Determination of Chronic Reference Exposure Levels for Airborne Toxicants.
