Eastern Sierra Tribal Listening Session: Summary

In August 2020 the Bishop Paiute Tribe and the CalEPA Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) jointly convened a listening session with Eastern Sierra Tribes. The listening session had the following objectives:

  • Listen to perspectives from tribal communities in the Eastern Sierra on climate change impacts they are experiencing and identify common themes
  • Collect tribal input to help the OEHHA Indicators of Climate Change in California report raise awareness about tribal-specific climate change impacts and increase recognition of the value of tribal knowledge in reporting climate change impacts

OEHHA respects the right of tribal nations to govern the collection, ownership, and application of their data. Participating tribes have reviewed and approved the information shared in this summary.
