Hydroclimate Webinar: Bridging Science and Action

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is hosting a series of webinars,  Indicators of Climate Change: Bridging Science and Action, as part of its efforts to track and report on climate change and its impacts on California. Each webinar will synthesize new science and data, and showcase state, local, Tribal or community actions on a selected climate change topic. OEHHA will co-convene each webinar with one or more state agency partners with responsibilities relating to the topic. 

Webinar #2: Impacts on Hydroclimate

This webinar is the second in the series, co-convened with the California Department of Water Resources and the State Water Resources Control Board. It addressed the impacts of climate change on California’s water resources, and efforts underway to address them.

This presentation will provide an overview of hydrologic indicators used to track climate change in California and discuss efforts being taken to create a climate resilient water management framework. 

Christopher Hyun, Climate Lead, Senior Scientist, State Water Resource Control Board

State Action for a Water Resilient California 
This presentation will provide a summary of state regulatory, planning, and support efforts, particularly by the State Water Resources Control Board, to bolster water resilience in the face of climate change 

Justine Massey, Policy Manager and Attorney, and Kjia Rivers, Policy Advocate, Community Water Center

Human Right to Water and Climate Change
This presentation will cover the climate-related threats to drinking water which communities in Central Valley and the Central Coast endure, and the work that Community Water Center does to create climate resiliency to uphold the Human Right to Water in these frontline communities.

Adekunle Ojo, Water Resources Manager, San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District

Delivering our Mission in a Changing Climate
This presentation will focus on how the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, as a steward of water and environmental resources of the region, is planning, preparing, and building resilience to a changing climate in a scientifically-sound, people-centric, and fiscally responsible manner.
