David Edwards, Ph.D., has served since September 2021 as OEHHA’s Chief Deputy Director. In this role, he oversees day-to-day administrative and programmatic operations at OEHHA. Dave has taken a lead role in activities ranging from Proposition 65 implementation to climate change. He is also a member of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) AB 617 Consultation Group, an advisory group for CARB’s community initiatives.
Prior to joining OEHHA, Dave worked for 13 years at CARB, where he held various leadership positions, most recently as Assistant Division Chief for the Air Quality Planning and Science Division. While at CARB, he spearheaded projects including: developing the Criteria Pollutant and Air Toxics Reporting Regulation, updating the statewide greenhouse gas inventory, overseeing the Consumer Products Implementation program, and updating the Mandatory Reporting Regulation for Greenhouse Gases.
Dave received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Princeton University and his BS in Chemistry from St. Mary’s College of California. He also holds a certificate in Environmental Policy as a Science Technology and Environmental Policy fellow from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.
