Peer Review Comments Regarding 2009 Draft Public Health Goal for Hexavalent Chromium in Drinking Water

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) of the California Environmental Protection Agency is announcing the availability of the comments of five external peer reviewers regarding the draft public health goal for hexavalent chromium in drinking water that was released for public comment in August 2009.

During the public comment period, two entities (the Association of California Water Agencies, and Latham & Watkins LLP on behalf of Honeywell International, Inc.) requested an external scientific peer review of the draft PHG document. The peer review was conducted as set forth in the California Health & Safety Code Section 116365(c)(3)(D). OEHHA will revise the draft PHG document as appropriate in response to the peer review and public comments, and release the revised draft for a 30-day public comment period. A final response to all comments received, including peer review comments, will be published at a later date when the PHG is finalized.

[Update] Second public comment period 12/31/10
