Dec 24, 2024: Overview of the 2024 Meeting of the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee (DARTIC)

The Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee (DARTIC) voted in favor of listing bisphenol S as a reproductive toxicant (male reproductive endpoint) under Proposition 65 by a vote of 9 (yes) to 0 (no). The Carcinogen Identification Committee (CIC) voted in favor of listing vinyl acetate as a carcinogen under Proposition 65 by a vote of 11 (yes) to 0 (no). A recording of the full meeting and transcript will be posted online when available.

Dec 6, 2024: Proposition 65: Clear and Reasonable Warnings – Safe Harbor Methods and Content

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has amended Title 27, this regulatory action will make the Proposition 65 short-form warning more informative to consumers.

Nov 29, 2024: Request for Relevant Information on the Carcinogenicity of N-Methyl-N-Formylhydrazine

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has selected N-methyl-N-formylhydrazine for the Carcinogen Identification Committee review for possible listing under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act. This notice announces a data call-in to solicit information from the public relevant to the assessment of its carcinogenicity. N-Methyl-N-formylhydrazine was selected from chemicals prioritized by the CIC.

El Departamento de Reglamentación de Pesticidas (DPR por sus siglas en inglés) de California ha propuesto nuevas reglamentaciones elaboradas de manera conjunta y mutua con la Oficina de Evaluación de Riesgos para la Salud Ambiental (OEHHA, por sus siglas en inglés) para proteger espectadores ocupacionales en los alrededores de campos tratados para reducir su riesgo de exposición al 1,3-D.

Oct 15, 2024: Safe Harbor Warnings for Acrylamide Exposure from Food

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has amended Title 27, California Code of Regulations 25607.2(b), to provide an additional safe harbor warning option for businesses that cause significant exposures to acrylamide in food products. 

Jun 24, 2024: Proposed Rulemaking: Title 27 California Code of Regulations, Section 25705 No Significant Risk Level for Titanium Dioxide

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment proposes to adopt a Proposition 65 No Significant Risk Level for titanium dioxide (airborne, unbound particles of respirable size) by amending Title 27, California Code of Regulations, section 25705(c)(2).

Jun 14, 2024: Information Letters for Proposition 65

OEHHA may send letters to interested parties that assist in understanding Proposition 65 statutes and regulations, and their application.

Mar 29, 2024: Overview of the February 2024 Meeting of the Carcinogen Identification Committee

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment convened a meeting of the CIC on February 27th, 2024. The meeting opened with a session on enzyme polymorphisms and susceptibility to carcinogenicity, including presentations from invited speakers and discussions with the Committee. The presentations and discussion will help inform future cancer hazard identification work at OEHHA. The Committee also discussed OEHHA’s proposal to streamline several sections of cancer hazard identification documents.

Mar 22, 2024: No Significant Risk Levels for Ethylene Oxide

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) decided to withdraw the proposed rulemaking intended to update the No Significant Risk Level for Ethylene Oxide.

Jan 23, 2024: Bisphenol S (BPS) Added to Proposition 65 List Following 2023 Meeting of the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee

Effective December 29, 2023, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has added bisphenol S (BPS) to the Proposition 65 list as a reproductive toxicant (female reproductive endpoint).

Jan 11, 2024: Notice of Intent to Amend Title 2, Section 54700 of the California Code Of Regulations - Conflict of Interest Code of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment is proposing amendments to its conflict of interest code contained in the Title 2, Section 54700 of California Code of Regulations. OEHHA is taking this action is pursuant to the authority vested in it by section 87306 of the Government Code. A comment period has been established commencing on January 12, 2024, and closing on February 26, 2024.

Nov 17, 2023: Chemicals Listed Effective November 17, 2023 as Known to the State of California to Cause Cancer: Coal-Tar Pitch, Fluoro-Edenite Fibrous Amphibole, and Silicon Carbide Whiskers

Effective November 17, 2023, the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is adding coal-tar pitch, fluoro-edenite fibrous amphibole, and silicon carbide whiskers to the list of chemicals known to the State of California.

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is providing notice of a modification to the proposed Proposition 65 No Significant Risk Level (NSRL) for Antimony Trioxide.

Safe harbor levels, which include No Significant Risk Levels (NSRLs) for cancer-causing chemicals and Maximum Allowable Dose Levels (MADLs) for chemicals causing reproductive toxicity.

Aug 11, 2023: Chemicals Listed Effective August 11, 2023 as Known to the State of California to Cause Cancer: Anthracene, 2-Bromopropane, and Dimethyl Hydrogen Phosphite

The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) intends to list anthracene (CAS RN 120-12-7), 2‑bromopropane (CAS RN 75-26-3 [corrected as of June 27, 2023]), and dimethyl hydrogen phosphite (CAS RN 868-85-9) as known to the state to cause cancer.
