Risk Assessment
The future is an underlying consideration in environmental protection. While we must resolve environmental challenges that we are faced with now, we must also pay attention to signals of challenges that may confront us in the future.
The capability to anticipate problems that may emerge in the future can be a potentially powerful planning tool for California’s environmental protection programs. An awareness of trends and possible developments which may impact environmental protection, what their potential consequences might be, and what forces drive change and how will allow Cal/EPA to be better prepared to address challenges which may arise.
